The Team Everybody Loves to Hate

Quite recently my cousin posted a statement on my Facebook wall.  It went like this:

"Let's go Boston!"  then quickly followed by this one: "My Boston Redsox can beat up your NY Yankees!"  Needless to say, I am a proud New York Yankees Fan and my cousin is a Boston Red Sox fan.   I decided to do  little research on the facts.

The New York Yankees have won 27 World Series titles, 40 American League Pennants & 18 East Division Titles

1960, 1958, 1957, 1956, 1955, 1953, 1952, 1951, 1950, 1949, 1947, 1943, 1942, 1941, 1939,

The Boston Red Sox have won 8 World Series titles, 13 American League Pennants and 7 East Division titles

World Series titles (8)
 2013, 2007, 2004, 1918, 1916, 1915, 1912, 1903

American League Pennants (13)
2013, 2007, 2004, 1986, 1975, 1967, 1946, 1918, 1916, 1915, 1912, 1904, 1903

East Division Titles (7)

About the Rivalry

The rivalry is strictly one sided;  when the Red Sox come to Yankee Stadium, they're just another team.  When the NY Yankees play an away game, it's "The New York Yankees are in town!"  The attendance numbers at that stadium go up when the Bronx Bombers are in the house.  Google 'Red Sox vs. Yankees humor,' you will see countless of anti Yankee/pro BoSox images.  Try to find the reverse and you will not find quite as many. The reason for this is because most New York Yankee fans don't need to feel better about their team at the expense of another team.  There's no need to demean our opponents. We have the confidence to say:

"The New York Yankees are the greatest team in baseball.'
